Long-term soybean germination under CO₂ and modified atmospheres

The germinative capacity of soybean seed is rapidly reduced when stored at high temperature (28-32°C) in the open air. Hermetically sealed storage with oxygen depletion brings an improvement, but the degradation of germination capacity is still significant. Only storage under CO₂ preserves 80% G.P. after 250 days.

Evolution of germination capacity of soybean seed for 250 days under different conditions, including COinerting (most protective atmosphere).
